Why royalty-free images should NEVER be used for your brand identity…

I don’t really have to explain this….but you can see how embarrassing this is when you hand these business cards at business networks. Take note that they are NOT related to each other. These came from 2 separate companies that I got these cards from at 2 different times.
Believe me, this DOES happen, and unfortunately, it wasn’t my first encounter…
Problems with royalty-free images or clip-art for brand identity:
- you should try to avoid royalty-free images for permanent branding mediums like business cards and logos
- no unique brand identity. I’m sure someone will have seen the same design somewhere else
- not all royalty-free images are bad, but you wouldn’t want to end up like the above
- you cannot copyright them; the same applies for royalty-free logo icons
- cheap doesn’t equal to quality, period.
